Pennsylvania

Sunday, November 23, 2008

I'm about 3 weeks overdue for this post. The week of November 2nd Cody and I flew to Pennsylvania for a conference put on by Learning Keys. The conference went well and Kristi & Jed (Cody's parents) and Cody & I stayed for a couple more days to do some sight seeing and other tourist-y stuff. We spent a day in Philadelphia and Valley Forge and then another in Washington DC. We took the train to DC which was much better than driving and because of an usually warm day (72 degrees) we spent the day walking around seeing the Lincoln Memorial, the White House, the Capital, the Vietnam Memorial, several Smithsonian Museums, and more. Now you might be wondering what we did with Cooper. We left Cooper behind with a much trusted friend Meghan Allen and her 1 year old son. Cooper had a blast playing with TJ and from what Meghan told me, they were quite mischievous. It was hard being away from Cooper for a week and I'm glad to be back. By the way, my favorite were the colorful trees!

Crawling Everywhere!

Sunday, October 19, 2008

I couldn't think of a better title for this post. Cooper is crawling everywhere and loves to crawl up everything too. Luckily he was born with a hard head because he falls and hits it all the time. At Church today the members of the Gospel Doctrine class were getting a kick out of Cooper because he would crawl to the front of the room, crawl up one of the chairs and turn to look at me with a big smile as if to see "Look what I've done Mom!". He is getting so big I can't believe it!
PS Cooper has 4 teeth now (2 front teeth and 2 on the bottom) and loves to bite anyone who holds him. Just to caution you all.

Aren't Cousins the Best?

Thursday, September 18, 2008

Cooper loves playing with his cousins, especially now that he can crawl to wherever they are and then crawl all over them. Elizabeth is so funny because she let's Cooper crawl all over her and if she starts to get annoyed, she pretends like she's asleep. I think she learned this from Logan (he pretends like he's sleeping whenever Elizabeth wants him to do something he doesn't want to). Below is Elizabeth, Thatcher (Cody's cousin's son...would that be Cooper's second cousin?), and Cooper.

By the way, Cooper had his 6 month check up about a week and a half ago and all the shots that came with it. He weighs 18 1/2 pounds (75%) and is 28 inches tall (95%). I don't think I'll ever know what it's like to have a "petite" baby.

Update on the Home...

Saturday, September 6, 2008

I decided I better update you all on our home since the post "The Pleasures of Owning a Home". The water softener's circuit board ended up not being blown; Cody just had to jiggle a few parts to get it up and running. Yeah! We don't have to buy a new water softener. The roof is still leaking, but our home owners insurance is paying to have a new roof put on as well as the dry wall replaced where it leaked into our bedroom (Cody actually did a little "happy dance" when the agent from our insurance told us the good news) and Monday our house will be de-termited (did I forget to mention we had termites?). Hopefully this takes care of all the big expenses our house could incure for the next few years (knock on wood).

Proof!

I decided it was about time to show you all proof of Cooper's spitting up habits. I have to admit that it has gotten a lot better since he's been eating cereal and vegetables, but he still spits up several times a day. The picture below happened a couple of months ago when I was on the phone with my sister, Anna. Cooper actually began choking because he couldn't breathe (too much spit up coming up and no time to take a breath). This was his second spit up in 15 minutes. The picture below was taken purely by chance. I was taking photos of Cooper to use in my scrapbook page (Many Faces of Cooper) and just happened to snap the picture at exactly the right time. Cody thinks it looks like Cooper's blowing smoke out of his mouth, but trust me, it wasn't smoke.
